The large majority of materials used by Velvet Heartbeat are from industry deadstock and reworked vintage pieces, to ensure sustainability practises (sometimes new thread, sewing materials, hardware and fabrics are sourced, responsibly). 

Some Velvet Heartbeat pieces are made of Pinatex, a vegan leather alternative made of pineapple leaves discarded from fruit farms

Velvet Heartbeat pieces are made in Aukland by the team themselves, not out sourced (they note that if outsourcing is ever required they will continue to pay those artisans the same fair, living wage)

Velvet Heartbeat products requiring dying are done so with natural vegetable dyes
